Social distancing, self-quarantining, and the closure of many gyms have made it harder to exercise. It is especially important to stay active during this time. Regular exercise is good for both our physical and mental health.
Physical activity you can do at home includes:
– weights training — if you don’t have any weights, make your own with filled water bottles, cans or jars.
– backyard sports
– going up and down stairs
– on-the-spot running, star jumps, mountain climbers and other bodyweight exercises
– virtual fitness classes
– Zoom or Skype group lounge exercises with your friends
Remember, sedentary behaviour and low levels of physical activity can have negative effects on the health, well-being and quality of life of individuals. So keep your body moving!
